Current Flu Guide:
January 16- 31,
2008
by Domenick J Masiello, DO, DHt
Influenza is here. Cases have
appeared in sufficient numbers to now recommend a curative
remedy. That remedy is
Eupatorium Perfoliatum. The symptoms are the classic flu
symptoms: high fever, chills, fatigue and body aches. However,
there are key symptoms that point to
Eupatorium - the body aches are not only muscle pains but
also bones pains. The legs, lower and upper back are especially
affected. The bones are intensely sore as if bruised or beaten.
There is also headache. Any part of the head may be involved yet
most patients will have occipital pain or pain behind the eyes.
In addition there will also be pain in the eyes themselves,
especially with motion of the eyes. The extra-occular muscles
are affected such that just moving the eyes back and forth is
enough to create pain. Some patients won't have the eye pain but
will have photophobia instead. There may be nausea with vomiting
as well as diarrhea. Sore throat and non-productive cough may
also be present. The fatigue and prostration can be profound.
In this case I have used
Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200C. One dose daily for three days.
If started early on, this will bring fairly rapid resolution.
Rest and fluids will also help. If one's occupation involves
exposure to large numbers of potentially sick individuals such
as school teachers, health care professionals or airline
personnel then a dose of
Eupatorium 200C one a week for the next
2 - 3 weeks may be in order to
address potential exposure at the earliest onset.
"A striking example
of this: Until 1801, epidemics of Sydenham's smooth scarlatina
broke out from time to time among children and attacked without
exception all those who had not yet been exposed. But on the
Konigslutter epidemic, which I witnessed, all the children who
had taken a very small dose of Belladonna early enough remained
immune to this very infectious disease. If medicines can
protect us from the contagion of a raging epidemic, they must
possess a greater power to alter our vital force than the
epidemic."1
