Current Flu Guide: March 1- 15, 2008

by Domenick J Masiello, DO, DHt

Spring is almost here and so most definitely is the flu. Influenza cases continue to increase. As mentioned in the previous installment, the strain of influenza that is causing most of the infections this year, the Brisbane strain, was not included in the flu vaccine. Therefore, patients who chose to get the flu shot are getting sick this season. There is great variety of intensity of this flu among patients. Some are experiencing a mild cold with some fatigue. Others are flat on their backs, in bed, with a high fever. The group of symptoms that seems to unite all these cases, no matter how mild, are the following: a headache, usually the forehead ; pain behind or in the eyes, especially with motion of the eyes; aching in the muscles and/or bones. Eupatorium 200C, one dose a day for three days should be sufficient. For difficult cases, the dose can be increased to twice per day.
