Current Flu Guide:
March 15-31,
2008
by Domenick J Masiello, DO, DHt
Happy Spring! Some cases of
influenza have continued to trickle in. What is different now
are the number of post-influenza complications. Thankfully, I
have not seen any pneumonia but there have been cases of
conjunctivitis (Mercurius
Solubilis), otitis media (Mercurius
Solubilis), bronchitis (Kali
Bichromicum and
Phosphorus) and rhinitis/sinusitis with blood streaked mucus
(Phosphorous).
There have been a small number of patients who just never got
their energy back and may have any of the aforementioned
conditions. These patient have benefited from a dose of
Psorinum.*
There are several rubrics for post
influenzal symdrome. Just use the search function and you will
find rubrics such as Cough: after influenza; and Generalities:
Convalescence: Influenza. The cough rubric contains some "small
remedies" such as Pix liquida and Senega. They are worth
studying even if it is only as an exercise in differential
materia medica.
This will be the final installment
of Flu Guide for this season. I wish all of you good health
during the rest of the year. "See" you next fall!
*Psorinum
is available with a prescription from a licensed practitioner.
